The Theology MA Programme is a modular degree fully integrated into the College-wide Masters Degree programme, allowing students to specialise in various areas of theology. As well as offering an advanced-level treatment of important areas of theological scholarship, each award also offers a substantial introduction to research methods in theology. As a result, the programme functions both as a self-contained taught MA and as a foundation programme for those who are hoping to read for higher research degrees in theology.

The designated awards offer focused advanced level study in a particular area of Christian Theology, which you will have already chosen in consultation with the MA Route Leader. The generic MA offers the possibility of choosing modules from two of the designated awards in areas of particular interest for you. The programme is designed to appeal to a wide range of students: such as recent graduates or those returning to study; all are seeking to deepen their theological understanding, and some such as clergy and other professionals are seeking to develop and extend their vocational qualifications.

Course Content

The course is modular, with one module per semester (two per year) for part-time students and two modules per semester (four per year) for full-time students. The modules address a range of theological disciplines in the Christian Tradition, and relate in the main to contemporary concerns.
