Research Interests
My main research interests are in the areas of:
- practical theology
- social and political theology
- ethics
In particular I am interested in the question of how theologians contribute to debates in the public and political arenas. This might mean how they influence or inform public actors with a specifically Christian motivation or it may be concerned with the contribution made to contexts which are not governed by Christian presuppositions. In part I pursue these questions as editor of the journal Political Theology (www.equinoxpub.com). I am also carrying out work looking at 19th and 20th century social and political theology. The latter project is an historical survey focussing on the interaction of key ideas and the social and political context.
