Experience

Trisha worked for 18 years in mainstream and special education as a classteacher, SENCO and senior manager.  She is also a trained counsellor and educational therapist.  Before joining Chichester in 2004, Trisha worked as an independent educational consultant, leading SEN projects for the South-East Region SEN (SERSEN) partnership and providing SEN consultancy to SENCOs and senior managers in mainstream and special schools.  She developed the innovative Therapeutic Storywriting Groups model now used in many schools around the country and recently directed the 20-month Story Links parent partnership project, funded by the TDA and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.  Trisha has written widely on therapeutic education and recently submitted a PhD by publication on the use of Therapeutic Storywriting to support pupils with BESDs.

Interests

Trisha’s area of interest is inclusion and the support for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.  She is particularly interested in developing therapeutic teaching programmes that support pupils’ emotional well-being while also developing their literacy skills.
