Experience

Sharon taught for 26 years in primary schools in both the UK and abroad, across the full primary age range before joining the University.  In school she was responsible for subject management of English, Assessment and R.E. and was a member of the management team. She also spent 2 years teaching primary-aged children in Mozambique. She was fortunate to be selected for International Professional Development funding and this enabled her to observe an innovative behaviour management project in Vienna.

Interests

Sharon has a special interest in the teaching of writing in the primary classroom and was the primary co-ordinator of a two-year project concerned with maintaining standards in writing for vulnerable pupils during Key Stage 2/3 transition. Inclusion of children with a wide range of Special Needs, particularly social, emotional and behavioural difficulties is another area of interest for Sharon.
