Role

Katharine is the co-ordinator of the Secondary PGCE History Subject Study Programme.

Experience

Katharine taught in secondary schools and Further Education for many years before joining the University. As well as her role in teacher education, Katharine currently teaches on the History undergraduate programme and is responsible for delivering the Oral History module and Ideology, Politics and the Teaching of History Module.

Interests

Katharine’s interests include issues related to identity and diversity.  Katharine’s doctoral research focused upon young women’s identity, leisure and consumerism in inter-war Britain. She has presented conference papers on these areas and has acted as an advisor for an Exhibition on Teenage girls and for an oral history series for Television.
