Carole is a Senior Lecturer and Coordinator for Primary Professional English

Experience

Carole taught for 17 years in primary schools, across the full primary age range before joining the University. In school she was responsible for subject management of English and Assessment.  Whilst a deputy headteacher, Carole also worked as an expert literacy teacher within Hampshire.  Prior to joining the University, Carole was headteacher of a large junior school.  She has completed the NPQH and a Masters in Education with the Open University.

Interests

Carole has a special interest in the impact of teacher and pupil talk in the classroom and how this can be used to enhance learning.  She is also interested in the development of pupils’ writing skills through pupil self-assessment .
