Role
Brian is a part-time Senior Lecturer in Art Education based at the Bognor Regis Campus, teaching Art Education modules to BA PET Undergraduate and PGCE Primary students. He also works in schools supporting GTP Secondary Art trainee teachers and Mentors.
Experience
Brian studied Fine Art and Education in Winchester before working mainly in Primary Education in Somerset and then Middle School education in Southampton for some years. During this time he delivered Art INSET courses for Hampshire County Council. Following a year’s postgraduate study at Dartington College of Arts in Devon, he moved into teacher training in Southampton as a specialist in Art Education and served on the National Society for Education in Art & Design’s (NSEAD) Teacher Education Board. Brian took up employment with Chichester in 1997, working on a range of Undergraduate modules, including research methodology & Creativity courses, and continues to be fully committed to the cause of high quality Art in schools through our teacher training students.
Interests
Brian’s part-time commitment to the University of Chichester involves him working during the second semester every year, from January until July. Every first semester sees him working as a professional artist at his studio in France, to maintain a consistent and meaningful contact with his subject as well as developing creative ideas through painting.
