Role

Adrian is the Subject Co-ordinator for the PGCE Secondary Mathematics route. He is Regional Co-ordinator of the Maths Enhancement Courses Project and Director of the MASK project.

Experience

Adrian has wide experience of both primary and secondary schools, having taught across the full age range, been a head of department in two secondary schools; a county adviser setting up and running a mathematics centre and an educational consultant. He holds a Masters degree in Mathematics Education. He is the inventor of ‘Loop Cards’ and of the ATM ‘Mathematical Activity Tiles’.

Adrian led the design and national piloting of Maths Enhancement Courses and has helped TDA to disseminate them nationally. He runs TDA regional Booster Courses and teaches on the MA in Mathematics Education.

Interests

Adrian leads ATM's National Working Group on Number Imagery Development. Adrian is also a BEAM Consultant to Primary Schools. He was regional PrIME co-ordinator. He has published widely, including Teaching Learning and Primary Mathematics, Mathematics Dictionary, Mad About Maths and Follow Me.

Adrian publishes his research through conferences of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education [PME] and at national BSRLM conferences. He reviews research papers for international conferences and national research journals.
