History

About the Course
The History route is designed to equip students to teach National Curriculum History across key stages 3 and 4 and to A Level. The subject specific element of the course is delivered at our Bognor Regis Campus. The Teaching History modules are complemented by a Professional Studies programme which is also based at Bognor Regis.
Entry Qualifications
Normally candidates will have a degree at 2:2 or above in History or in a closely related subject where the content can be demonstrated to be at least 50% History. This may be discussed at interview. If you are unsure about the suitability of your degree, please contact the course co-ordinator for advice. All candidates must have achieved grade C or above in GCSE English and maths (or equivalent). If you meet the entry requirements you will be invited for interview at Bognor Regis. All successful applicants will have to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, satisfy requirements for provisional registration with the General Teaching Council and complete a satisfactory Medical Declaration before commencement of the course.
How am I assessed?
The course is assessed through observation during teaching placements and written assignments. To gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) students need to complete three 4,000-word assignments at Level M (Postgraduate), two blocks of School Experience and TDA Skills Tests in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
Applications
All applications for a PGCE must be made through the GTTR, click here for more details
