Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL)

MTL is now available to all teachers in all schools !

The MTL programme is innovative in that it involves the University tutor and the school working together to support the learning of the teacher.

Central to this programme is the role of the school-based coach. In many M-level programmes the university tutor will discuss with the participating teacher the focus of their M-level assignment. In the MTL the school-based coach is a vital part of this discussion. The school-based coach has unique knowledge of the participating teacher, their department, school and importantly the pupils. The school-based coach in consultation with the participating teacher can direct the M-level work to maximise the impact on the teacher’s professional development, school needs and priorities and most importantly pupil learning outcomes.

The teachers currently on the MTL have commented on the practical focus of this programme.

The MTL consists of six modules plus a dissertation.

Modules available for Spring 2012 are:

Teaching Learning and Assessment for Learning (20 credits)
Start date: Wed. Jan. 25th (three twilight sessions)

Or

Leadership and Working with Others (20 credits)
Start date: Wed. Feb. 1st (1day and one twilight)


Prices: £267 per module (all modules will be held at the Bognor Regis Campus)

How do I enrol on the MTL?

Before enrolling in the MTL programme, you’ll need to ensure that you have your Head Teacher’s support. You will need their help to find an appropriate school-based coach and their agreement to both of you spending time working on the programme inside and outside of the classroom.
