Pathways

PLEASE NOTE:
The MA(Ed) is currently undergoing reapproval and has been designed to enable you to align your Masters study with existing school-based professional learning projects and/or school improvement plans. The proposal for the new programme is to offer two 30 credit modules per academic year. It is anticipated that these changes will take place from February 2012 when modules will be offered over two semesters rather than three terms.
You can follow your own particular interest throughout every module. This can be by means of a dedicated module, for instance in leadership and management. However, you could focus on leadership and management within other chosen modules, for example SEN or curriculum. You will be encouraged and supported to ensure that the practitioner research you undertake during your study reflects your chosen focus, thus the programme is both specialised and personalised.
Please note: this will not lead to a named specialist Award.
THE EXISTING MA(Ed) WILL OPERATE FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE 2011-12 ACADEMIC YEAR
For ACADEMIC YEAR 2011-12 ONLY, continuing students on the MA(Ed) programme may opt to follow a pathway in Curriculum (C), Inclusion (I) or Leadership and Management (L) and then receive a specialist award on completion, e.g. MA(Ed) Curriculum.
If this interests you, you will need to select and complete successfully at least three content modules relating to your chosen pathway.
You may choose all four modules from one pathway if you wish, or one more from any of the pathways. In addition you will take two modules on educational research and your dissertation will need to focus on an aspect of your chosen pathway.
