A Sport and Exercise Science degree will appeal to you if you wish to develop a career related to improving sports performance, or Sports Science Support. The Sports Coaching Science route is particularly relevant for careers in coaching, teaching and instructing, whilst the Exercise & Health Science degree is beneficial to the fitness and health industry, and to health promotion.

If you follow the Sports Development degree, you may wish to follow a career in, for example, Sports Development, Policy Management or Sports Journalism. Alternatively the Sports and Fitness Management degree is more relevant if you wish to enter a career in management of sport and recreation facilities, health clubs, or general sports management. Either way, it is your choice! The exciting Sports Therapy degree will provide you with the opportunity to qualify for full membership of the Society of Sports Therapists and is therefore ideally suited if you wish to carry on sports therapy as a career.

The Sports, Exercise & Health programmes reflect the varied expertise available within the school. We have a long tradition of teaching sport and exercise-related subjects and are currently one of the top 25% rated departments for research in sport and exercise science. We would love to talk to you about your personal interest in our courses and how you might use this interest to build towards your future career aspirations. Please e-mail Pete Green for Sports Development, or Sport and Fitness Management, or Paul Robinson for Sport and Exercise Science, or Coaching Science, or the School Office for Sports Therapy from here with your name and telephone number so we can call you back for an informal chat.

What will I learn?

All Sport and Exercise courses are an exciting blend of practical and theoretical modules. Each degree programme is supported by compulsory modules in research methods and information technology. Independent study, formal and informal lectures and practical seminars are all methods used to create and develop your learning environment. In your final year you will undertake a research dissertation project. This might focus on your own developing interests in Sport and Exercise and could, through publication, add to an ever-evolving body of knowledge.
