Education
BSc (Hons) Joint Honours Physics/Physiology.
PhD Bioengineering
Current Teaching
Within the BSc programme I am module leader for the first year module SPL112 Introduction to Sports Biomechanics, the third year module Advanced Biomechanics and supervise third year undergraduate student dissertations.
Within the MSc Biomechanics I am module leader for the two courses in semester 1 Biomechanical Instrumentation, and Tissue Mechanics and Assisting Devices. I contribute to the ergonomics, directed study and research project modules in semester 2 & 3.
I’m an experienced postgraduate PhD supervisor in physiology and biomechanics topics and have 8 students who have completed by 2006.
Research
I am interested in physiology of exercise and sport and in particular neuromuscularphysiology aspects, and also sports biomechanics and clinical biomechanics. I have supported the school of Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences with specialised equipment development for biomechanics sport performance on the Chichester site. In the past I have been involved in instrumentation development for environmental and human physiological monitoring in deep sea diving and water based activities as well as having worked for the Medical Research Council in a clinical environment and within the medical industry. Currently I am a principal investigator on a project investigating the involvement of human factors performance criteria in the design of high speed marine craft for operation effectiveness.
