Personal Introduction

Phil started work at the University of Chichester in 2009 looking after the skill acquisition modules for the Sport & Exercise Psychology, Sport & Exercise Science, and Sports Coaching Science courses. Phil was Irish Senior Decathlon champion in 2007 and 2008 and holds the Irish Universities indoor pentathlon record (2007).

2004 - BSc in Sport & Exercise Sciences, University of Limerick, Ireland

2009 - PhD in Motor Behaviour, University of Limerick, Ireland

Teaching

Phil is responsible for the following modules:

  • Acquisition and Performance of Sports Skills (SPL111),
  • Psychology of Skill Acquisition I (SPL209),
  • Psychology of Skill Acquisition II (SPL309),

Administration

Phil is a member of the Department Lab Management committee

 

Research Interests

Phil has research interestes in the following areas:

  • Fundamental movement skills,
  • constraints-based coaching,
  • variability and coaching strategies,
  • transfer of learning,
  • assessment of cognitive functioning.
