Centred around the Showroom, the University's public theatre, the Department offers the highly popular and successful BA (Hons) Performing Arts (Theatre Performance) (Theatre Performance and Dance) (Theatre Performance and Music), which specialises in devised new work, and, from 2012, a revamped Masters' programme: MA Performance (Theatre) (Theatre Collectives). We also have a community of MPhil and PhD students, primarily concerned with practice-based performance research, who are supervised by our highly dedicated academic team of practicing artists and researchers.

The ShowRoom
The Showroom is an Arts-Council funded regional venue, specialising in the programming of contemporary performance and dance. As part of the Showroom's attributives, we run a regular 'scratch' programme of artist development, consultancy, dramaturgy and technical support called Formations, which provides continuing professional development to a large community of associated professional artists. Recent supported artists have included: Reckless Sleepers; Spy Monkey; The Paper Birds; Action Hero; Search Party; Bill Aitchison; Bootworks, Tinned Fingers; 1927; Lila Dance; Gregory Maqoma and Sidi Larbi.
