Peter Cunningham
Peter started lecturing at Chichester in Exercise Physiology in 1993. Since 1998 he has been employed on a full time basis as the RYA’s exercise physiologist working with the Olympic sailing team. This has included attending the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympic Games, as the British sailing Team’s exercise physiologist.
Based at the University of Chichester, where the first class sports science labs are used to monitor the fitness levels of the Olympic sailors. Peter has worked with some of Britain’s best known sailing competitors, including the likes of Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy, Shirley Robertson, Ian Walker and Ellen MacArthur. Read more
Marcus Smith
After completing his first degree in 1987 at Chichester, Marcus started working with the sport of amateur boxing via a grant received from the Sports Council Sports Science Support Programme. Over the years his role developed from Boxing Project Assistant to Sports Science Manager.
During 1987- 2004 he attended 2 Olympic Games, 2 Commonwealth Games and numerous World and European Boxing Championships.
He is currently working with colleagues on producing strategies for the University that will contribute towards the preparation of British athletes for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Read More
