IT Management for Business
The IT Management for Business undergraduate degree provides students with the opportunity to participate in a degree that seeks to develop skilled graduates who have a sound technical knowledge in IT, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage people effectively.
The degree has been developed in conjunction with industry that recognise a real need for such graduates in the workplace. Whereas many IT and computing courses have a technical flavour throughout, the aim of this IT Degree is to recruit students whose primary focus is people orientated and to ensure this focus is maintained whilst developing sufficient technical expertise. A significant focus is placed upon providing students with a learning experience that is directly relevant to IT in organisations, and modules contain a strong management focus.

The IT Management for Business Degree route is a multi-disciplinary course of study. You will be taught a wide range of IT and some business disciplines including computer architecture and design, information systems and strategies, economics and finance, website and knowledge management, marketing and e- commerce, commercial and industrial applications (programming, databases), project and global management. We have a new IT Centre with modern facilities where all IT work takes place. Resources include modern PCs, interactive whiteboards, graphics tablets, touch screens, video conferencing and digital cameras which students and tutors have access to.
We place great significance on providing a learning experience that assists your understanding of business practice in IT and the context in which it takes place. Importantly, we recognise the need to assist our students in gaining the competitive advantage and confidence to succeed in the employment market. Students that study on the course come from a rich mix of backgrounds. Many join us straight from school or college, others are returning to study having already gained experience in the work place. In addition, we have part-time students who are combining study with full-time work. The range of student backgrounds and experience helps to provide a useful 'melting pot' for the discussion, examination and study of the various subject areas explored within the programme.
