Joy Gilliver
BackJoy was born in North London in 1961 and was educated in a Church of England Comprehensive School before going to Oxford University to read Theology. She did a PGCE at Selwyn College Cambridge and taught RE and Philosophy of Religion in secondary Schools for 15 years including heading up the RE department in a large state comprehensive.
After doing some advisory work in RE and Collective Worship in the Diocese of Birmingham and a short period in community development work she moved to Sussex to work for the diocese of Chichester as Adviser for the Education and Training of Adults where she has been for ten years.
Joy is also Director of Studies for Readers in the diocese and a national Bishop’s Adviser for ordained ministry.
