Derek Jenkins

Derek Jenkins was appointed to the Board of Governors in January 2009 and was elected as Chair of Governors from 1 January 2010. In this role, he chairs the Governors’ Nominations & Effectiveness Committee and the Governors’ Remuneration Committee and is also a member of the Strategy & Resources Committee.

Derek read physics at Bedford College, University of London before going on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. He was a tax practitioner for nearly 40 years and retired from partnership in Pricewaterhouse Coopers in December 2008.

His previous external roles included chairing both the education committee of a London Borough and an environmental charity.
