Modules

Studio Practice Modules, Semesters 1,2,3,4,
These modules provide sustained focus for the development of Fine Art practice and context; ie the development of a personal artistic vision, language or style. The learning and teaching is studio-based, centred on specialist, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary Fine Art practices. Students’ understanding of Fine Art practice is engendered through their engagement in self-initiated projects, lectures, tutorials, seminars, presentations, study trips and group criticism. These develop cognitive and conceptual understanding, practical and visual sensibilities, critical skills in self-evaluation, and an awareness of the relationship of student work to that of other relevant practitioners.
While both the 30 credit and 15 credit Studio Practice modules are delivered concurrently and are practice led, the learning outcomes and indicative curriculum content for both routes differ in the extent and depth of understanding and quantity of work produced.
Teaching on the Studio Practice module is varied:
- 1-1 tutorials - an intensive half hour tutorial with a tutor of your choice every week or so.
- Approximately 1 hour per week with your tutor group and your personal tutor, talking about your work and 'art' in general.
- Regular group crits, with small groups of students and two tutors.
Assessment is of practical work presented to two members of staff and moderated by the whole module tutor team.
