QAA report: Fine Art receives 22 out off 24
As with all institutes of Higher Education in England and Wales, the Fine Art course underwent the scrutiny of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) on behalf of the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFC) in April 2000. The QAA visit looked at six ‘aspects’ of our provision and awarded a score out of 4 for each. Fine Art was awarded an extremely commendable 22 out of 24.
Here are some of the things the report said:
Curriculum:
‘The curriculum enables the progressive development of a range of subject specific skills, knowledge and understanding, and maps key transferable skills as they accumulate’
Professional practices:
The Vocational Development module has enabled students to gain valuable experience of external professional requirements.
Teaching:
Team teaching, including visiting lecturers and professional arts practitioners, is a key feature of the provision. It is well co-ordinated and students consider that it enriches their learning experience.
Students were appreciative of the quality of academic support provided by subject staff.
A clearly articulated teaching and learning strategy and a generally high quality of teaching.
Student experience:
Students have a strong sense of their own progression and enthuse about their creative development on the courses.
Graduates:
Former students considered that their experience here had prepared them well for employment. Employers perceived Chichester graduates as articulate and self-motivated individuals who have a high degree of flexibility.
