Chris McHughChristopher is also Convener of Art at the Centre for Community Engagement, University of Sussex. He was a founder member of Red Herring artists' collective and Fabrica Gallery in Brighton and continues to lecture at a variety of galleries, museums and other institutions. His main area of practice is as a painter but previously work has included: large-scale, temporary public art projects, such as Everybody's with Artangel Trust on the Spectacolour Board in Piccadilly Circus, London; installations such as Ring-a-ring-a-roses at Up the Hill Gallery, Brighton; and collaborative, digital projects such as In Vivo/In Vitro by Video Virus at Cambridge Darkrooms, the Museum of Installation in London, the Ikon in Birmingham and the Arnolfini in Bristol.

Recent exhibitions include: Chimerae (solo show at HQ Gallery, Lewes, 2008); ‘Drawing on Research’ (The Otter Gallery, 2008); Interventions, responding to items in the museum collection (Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, 2008); Sounding the Site, a collaborative multi-disciplinary event with composer Julian Broughton and poet Abi Curtis at the Sussex Institute (University of Sussex, 2009); Exegesis, a multi-media installation including over 70 textual contributions about the experience of paintings from personal perspectives (the Otter Gallery, 2009) Ark, a video installation with Julian Broughton and Abi Curtis (Music Room, University of Sussex, 2010); Los Angeles, with painter Frank McHugh (St. Anne’s Galleries, Lewes, 2010).
