Careers

Because an English degree is a key subject, there is a wide range of careers and professions which the graduate can enter.
Some students decide to continue their studies at postgraduate level. A high proportion will move on to undertake a one-year PGCE course, entering the teaching profession as Primary, Secondary, or Further Education teachers.
Other career destinations include local government; social work; administration; retail or leisure management; marketing; sales and advertising; and the media.
Many of our past students look back on their years at Chichester as formative. In recent years several have taken posts in television and in journalism, while others now write for the theatre and the screen. A number teach, some specialising in the teaching of Creative Writing.
The University also has a Careers Advisor on campus to guide and advise students about their future careers. The Careers Advisor has created a web page specifically for English and more detailed information about careers can be found by clicking on this link: English Careers Advice
